What Good Does Prayer Do?

One of the more challenging aspects of living as a Christian is the aspect of prayer. . .

"You have covered yourself with a cloud so that no prayer can get through." (Lamentations 3:44)

What are we doing? Are we really praying to God, or are we praying to hear ourselves only? Have we really opened the door for God to hear us through Jesus Christ, or have we just throught about Christ, heard other witnesses and agreed that that was a good thing for them. . . ?

"I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer" (Psalm 17:6)

We must call directly on God and ask Him to hear us in our prayers. We must surrender ourselves totally to Him and His Kingdom before He will listen to us.

"So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer." (Ezra 8:23)

With total dedication, God will hear our prayers.

Jesus said: "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." (Mark 11:24)

What else can you ask? Just trust in Him, and the reply will be coming. Sometimes it takes longer for a reply than we want to wait, but with total commitment to Him, I am sure that a reply WILL come.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." (Philippians 4:6)

Don't give up. The answer will come. With that TOTAL commitment that we have already spoken about above, we can have total confidence that He is there and listening.

"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight," (Philippians 1:9)
