When I look at this card I think of a lot of things. You might have wondered where the name "AVIS" come from since you are a man?  My mother's name was Avis, and I named most of my "companies" in her honor. (Avis Stamp Co., Avis Post Card Co., Avis Cards.) Why am I mentioning that with this card? When my mother was alive, I had her review all of the designs of the new post cards as we received the proofs. This was the last new card that she saw before her death.

Certainly this was a bright card! The yellow color caused a lot of comments... not all positive! But the cards sold well. I got the idea from a previously issued Princlys card, and updated the photos in the letters.

The original card showed an artist conception of what the "Egg" would look like when it was completed. The reprint showed an actual photo of the "Egg" which was then complete. (See card #524 for the photo used on the reprint.)

The cards are 4" x 6". The publisher of the original card was PlastichromeŽ by Colourpicture. The centerline stated Dist. by Avis Post Card Co. The card number shown is P312247 and my card/stock number #521 shows in the lower left corner. This first printing was 25,000 cards, of which 12,500 cards were shipped to the distributor that handled New York State Thruway gift shop accounts. The cards were delivered about August 1, 1977.

The publisher of the reprint card was PlastichromeŽ. There is a straight line down the center. The Dist. by Avis Post Card Co. shows in the lower left corner; just above my card/stock number of 521R. The card number shown is P331248. This second printing was 7,100 cards. The cards were delivered on July 24, 1984.
