1986 STATUE OF LIBERTY HOLD-TO-LIGHT POST CARD

    Thank you for ordering my newest post card. This is the fifth hold-to-light (HTL) post card that I have produced. Printing statistics for previous cards are shown in the lower left corner of this sheet.

    The fading of the torch rays was taken from the 1905 era J. Koehler card #1511. The crown color (green) was used to better blend with the statue color and as illustrated on the cover of AMERICANA magazine, October 1985 issue. The "new" 1986 torch will be copper colored and covered by gold leaf.

    I tried to obtain a license to put the official foundation symbol on this card, but was refused as I was told that my project would not produce enough money for the foundation to warrant it.

    The official "Opening Ceremony" and unveiling of the Statue will be JULY 3, 1986 at 9 PM. Plan to watch it on TV if you can not be there in person.

    As stated in my 1985 letter, I will only plan to produce 2 HTL's per year. The next card will be the annual Christmas HTL planned to be available in late summer of 1986.

    Any comments on my cards are always welcome and desired. Some of the colors on this card were the result of a suggestion!
