OBADIAH

The following comments are from Navigator's and Quiet Time Diary journals. One verse will be entered, then the comment, then the date.

:2 See, I will make you small among the nations; you will be utterly despised.

It seems that we are very small in comparison to the whole human family, but few people are willing to be true witnesses of God's grace and how He has been revealed in their lives. Those people who are called will be despised by others that are of the "world" and will be persecuted for their beliefs. (DRM 12/6/86) This could also speak of prophetic Israel. (DRM 1/10/2004)

:17    "But on Mount Zion there will be those who escape,
            And it will be holy.
            And the house of Jacob will possess their possessions."

This section [verses 15-21] mostly refers to different "tribes" of Israel and what areas they will possess in the future. Perhaps the point is that there will be Jewish believers at the end - and He will protect them. There is hope! (DRM 1/31/04)

:21    The deliverers will ascend Mount Zion
         To judge the mountain of Esau,
         And the Kingdom will be the LORD'S.

    This is another prophetic verse about the future of Israel and God's future rule of the nations.
    Even after all the disasters of the tribulation, there will be people who will object to His absolute rule.
    There will still be a lot of things "happening" during that period in history! (DRM 1/30/10)
